Come for the Jewelry, Stay for the Conversation

Rings and Things

March 26, 2022 by april dillow 4 Comments

Way back when I was on Instagram (yes, just a couple of weeks ago), I showed you a sneak peek hinting at things to come! My friend, Lyndsey, and I had a creative session in the workshop. We spent the evening digging through the “Not Just Scraps” bucket brainstorming all the ways we could make and execute rings!

Lyndsey and I stepped out of the workshop that night wearing our new leather rings, certain we had nailed it! We decided to wear our rings to test out the design, taking notes of how the rings felt on our fingers, how they held up, etc.

Well…

They didn’t work. I know! I am so sad! This was bound to happen at some point in this process, and it likely won’t be the last time.

There were just too many variables that I could not control. As a jewelry designer, I need to create designs that are as consistent as possible between pieces. This allows you to know what size you wear for every single piece and for them to fit as consistently as possible. These leather rings varied too much in size, width, and they even stretched! Not ideal.

So…for this month’s “Not Just Scraps” release, I am going to do another bookmark launch. You blew me away with your interest in these bookmarks! I LOVED making them and you picked up all but two of them! I couldn’t believe it!

I think bookmarks will have to make a permanent appearance in the TSL product catalog. That will have to be a conversation for another date, but for now…bookmarks are coming back!

Thanks for continuing to follow along on this journey. We are three months into this bucket, and there is still QUITE a bit left to create with. Let’s do this!

Oh dear friend! I miss you to pieces. Your creative genius is inspiring and I pray for new ideas to flow freely to you. Your gift still touches my soul every time I pick up a cuff. Anyway! Loved reading your blog. Can’t wait for the next event. Will definitely be picking up a bookmark soon. I had no idea about them. Fail on my part for not checking my emails.

HI, I’M APRIL!

HI, I’M APRIL!

I’m an encourager and I enjoy chatting with you about what God is teaching me. Every day I’m learning and every day I’m reminding myself who I am in Christ. I’m a simple girl who speaks about hope in the midst of my own struggles. Whether I’m sharing my story of God’s faithfulness through the loss of my brother to suicide, or talking about my daily sin struggles and remembering to give myself grace, God is walking me through every part of it.
