It starts with a belt.
It’s always a privilege to create keepsake jewelry pieces for you and your loved ones and this special order is no different.
Lynn asked me to create these special keychains in remembrance of her friend Melanie Moniz-Jefferson (Mimi).
Here is Melanie’s story as told by her friend Lynn:
Melanie passed on February 3, 2021 after losing her battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
What an amazing human being she was. She was my friend since our kids were in grade school. She was a teacher at Phoenix Academy of Math, Social Studies and AVID for the 8th grade. She was the type of teacher every student wanted. Her goal was to make every student grow and develop and be proud of what they accomplished.
She taught outside of the box, creating an interactive learning experience for all her students. She made time for every student. One year, 25 out 29 students made Honor Role in her class. To her students, she was known as Ms. J and she was very much respected because of her passion for her craft.
She was an incredible wife and mother, but her greatest joy, was being Mimi to her granddaughter, she called Beans. Mel’s love for God, family, friends, teaching, her students, bike riding and pineapples, bring to me the fondest memories.
I wanted her loved ones to have a keepsake made from something that was hers ( her belt) with the inscription “Forever Mimi” as a constant reminder of how special that role was to her.
I’m so grateful Lynn asked me to make these keychains for her friend’s family.
It’s so cool that it all starts with a belt.
